################################################################################## BackTrack 3.0 Beta Public Release 05/02/2006 ################################################################################## Since Max and I decided to join forces and co-operate with our Pentesting Live CD's, a lot has happened. Whoppix changed to Whax, Whax and Auditor changed to BackTrack and everything is hosted on Remote-Exploit ... a bit confusing, even to the sharpest of people. This little readme is meant to straighten things out, and give a few explenations to those who didn't keep track. BackTrack is the combination of the best features of Auditor and Whax. It's a lean, mean, Pentesting Live CD machine. With all the favorate tools and much more, BackTrack is probably the best of either previous distributions...and definately the sexiest. You can read more about BackTrack here: * http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/BackTrack Also, be sure to check the BackTrack FAQ: * http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/BackTrack_FAQ Lots of thought, hours, sweat and blood (!) have gone into BackTrack. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who helped make BackTrack possible - we would be nowhere today without their work. Max Moser - For having the insight of co-operation and co-develpment. Max first introduced the idea of joining forces, which resulted in BackTrack. Max put order in chaos, finesse in barbarity, and gave BackTrack the "Mercedes" feeling. Mati Aharoni - For not breaking / formatting / deleting anything during the development process :) William M. Hidalgo - For Taking care of all the *nasty* things that neither Max or I wanted to do. Wireless, Bluetooth and Fluxbox! William put up with constant driverrecompilations, which I abused sadisticly. Jacky Altal - For Rebuilding the Remote-Exploit site, and web design. Lots of man hours there. Paul Mansbridge - For the patient and helpful work put into assisting our users, and for all the help in shaping the forums, and doing the *really* hard work... Wlan (?) - For the artwork and logo designs...nice touch! Digi - For the wonderful Fluxbox designs and menus...which without, we'de be stuck with sluggish KDE!. Digi has promised us a new and sexy Backtrack video collection, which we are all anticipating ! Hosters - Thanks to ALL the people who helped with the last minute hosting. Their help enabled us to distribute the iso to the violent masses. We hope you enjoy this distribution, and use it wisely. Mati Aharoni & Max Moser muts@remote-exploit.org mmo@remote-exploit.org
